Dance Theatre ~

Greater Dover Dance Theatre (GDDT) is a non-profit, pre-professional dance company in residence at Greater Dover Dance Academy. GDDT has produced a full-length “Nutcracker”, “Fall Festival”, “Joy of Christmas”, “The Christmas Gift”, and “Clara's Dream”. This year, GDDT will present “Clara's Dream,” which will in part benefit New Hope Ministries. In the spring, the company rehearses special parts to be performed in the Dance Academy's Spring Concert. Members will also have the opportunity to attend 1-2 dance competitions/conventions this year. GDDT also presents mini-performances throughout the community to promote an appreciation of the performing arts.

Mission Statement

Greater Dover Dance Theatre seeks to provide talented, dedicated dancers with training and performance opportunities in a kind and respectful environment. We challenge and encourage each dancer to achieve their personal best. We promote an atmosphere of respect and encouragement between company members.

Senior Company and Junior Company

The company includes two groups: Senior Company and Junior Company. All interested dancers MUST audition (including previous members). Selections will be made based on level of technique, attitude, dedication, and commitment to rehearsal schedule and other requirements. Requirements are as follows:

Senior Company – Age 12 & up, minimum of 3 ballet classes/wk and 1 class of modern, available for all rehearsals. Audition: Saturday, September 12 at 10:00am

Junior Company – Age 8 & up, minimum of 2 ballet classes/wk and 1 modern class, available for all rehearsals. Audition: Saturday, September 12 at 11:30am

Monthly dues will be charged for participation in the company (see “Tuition, Dues, Fees”). Dues have been changed to monthly payments in hopes that this will be more manageable to families instead of the previous requirement of mandatory fundraisers and annual dues. Members will NOT be required to do fundraisers (other than a possible bake sale).
